Your First Visit
Your first dental visit will begin with our team welcoming you to our practice and getting to know you. Dr. Jennings, Dr. Perrett and our team want to fully understand your concerns and listen to your expectations before we begin your comprehensive examination. We will ask you a couple of questions that will help us to learn more about you, your past dental experiences and habits, and any medical conditions that may affect your dental health. This way, we are able to serve you in the best way possible. We welcome your questions, and if you have any concerns at all, please lets us know!
Dr. Jennings and Dr. Perrett see your comprehensive oral examination as a time for gathering information. During this time, we will take digital radiographs (X-rays) and intra-oral photographs of your teeth if needed, as well as conduct an oral cancer screening. Dr. Jennings or Dr. Perrett will then do a complete examination of your gums and bone support, your teeth, your jaw joints, and your bite relationship. These parts of your mouth need to function properly in order to maintain healthy joints, muscles, and teeth. Ignoring any or all three areas can lead to discomfort, breakage of teeth, or disease. A poorly functioning bite can cause as much dental disease as the bacteria that cause cavities and gum disease.
When your evaluation is complete, Dr. Jennings or Dr. Perrett will then address any emergency needs. If there is nothing of concern, you will be scheduled for your first dental cleaning. If necessary, we will also schedule a treatment consultation, at no charge, to review the findings of the examination. At the treatment consultation, Dr. Jennings, Dr. Perrett, and the Treatment Coordinator will explain your dental conditions, provide treatment solutions, coordinate scheduling appointments, and review your investment for gaining optimum dental health. Financial options will be reviewed in detail to help you afford the dental care you deserve.
